Did you know that there’s a city named Hana? It’s located on the beautiful island of Maui, Hawaii and the highway that leads there is called “The road to Hana” (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hana_Highway). It’s a fantastic drive, I’ve done it this year, and now Vishal Sikka, member of the Executive Board of SAP AG heading the technology and innovation areas, promises a customer’s project team and the implementation partner a paid trip to Hana as outlined in his keynote address today.
How do you get to Hana?
It’s fairly easy – all you got to do is join the SAP 100K club, following in the footsteps of the Japanese company Yodobashi. They increased the performance of an application by the factor 100000, using SAP HANA, hence it’s called the 100K club. Besides that Vishal gave several other examples of the performance improvements using HANA. It’s definitely very, very impressing!
Red Bull gives you wings
That’s true, but not only in the case you consume their energy drink. Red Bull has lead the example implementing SAP BW using HANA as the underlying database and they went live within 48 hours of the release of the software this week! Here are some more amazing facts regarding this ramp up project:
– Very quick implementation cycle
– No disruption of the productive system
– Data volume decreased by 80% (!!!)
– Improved overall reporting performance
To sum it up, Sebastian Vettel couldn’t have done it any faster! This clearly shows the game changing potential that HANA in combination with BW has. There are huge benefits for customers within reach by adopting to this new technology. As I wrote before, the future is now!
This wraps up three exciting and packed days here in Madrid and it’s finally time to relax a bit. Tonight’s the big SAP party here in Madrid featuring Anastacia and the world famous Cirque du Soleil (which runs SAP by the way: http://forums.sdn.sap.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1997024&tstart=0).
