SAP consulting company itelligence AG: New white paper points out opportunities of data analyses with SAP HANA

Moscow, March 19, 2013. – The global data volume is growing to gigantic volumes. Experts now estimate the volume at nearly three zettabytes (one zettabyte is 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 bytes). It is still growing rapidly. The huge data volumes provide companies with new ways to develop new opportunities and new business models if they can analyse the distributed data mass quickly and integrate it into their processes. Andy Steer, CTO at itelligence UK, and Christian Schmidt, Global Director Business Analytics at itelligence Deutschland, say so in their new white paper « accelerated data processing: business here and now ».

Irina Shotova, Managing Director Russia, itelligence AG: « The benefits of SAP HANA are not merely theoretic in nature, as the authors show using several application examples. For example, one itelligence customer, a large electronics dealer, is using SAP HANA to control its stock and perform its profitability analysis 15 times faster than before. Branch managers can see which products are selling particularly well or badly on their smartphones immediately, also permitting stock reduction. We at itelligence are happy to be among the first SAP consulting companies that have been able to gain experience with SAP HANA that we can now pass on to our customers in Russia ».

The publication focuses on the question of how companies in the networked era create added value to differentiate themselves from their competition. « The requirements and preferences of customers are changing faster than ever. To remain competitive, we need fast access to data in real-time – always, immediately and whenever it is needed, » the authors write. They believe that the SAP-HANA-based real-time data platform plays a key role here. It permits analysis of gigantic data volumes in the blink of an eye. The benefit is not only in speed. Companies can gain and maintain customers on highly competitive markets with this support, put innovations on the market faster and ensure excellent performance in all areas.

Another example: banks can use SAP HANA to track customer conduct and recognise suspicious transactions earlier than ever. They are thus always one step ahead of fraudsters and credit card theft. This added service is rewarded by the customers.
