What Is SAP?

SAP for Dummies

What’s SAP? What does SAP stand for? And who would benefit from introducing SAP? We have summarized the most important information about the Germany-based software giant and its enterprise software for you.

SAP in Brief – Systems, Applications & Products in Data Processing

SAP SE is headquartered in Walldorf Germany and the world’s leading provider of business software (as of October 2018). SAP’s solutions have been widely adopted by enterprises and are used by more than 413,000 customers in over 180 countries. [1]

What Is SAP Software Used For?

Since the company was founded in 1972, it has committed itself to the development of standard solutions for real-time data processing and has transformed the way we work today with its “SAP Enterprise Resource Planning (SAP ERP)”. In this context, SAP is perhaps most widely known for a product named SAP R/3. Its client/server architecture was revolutionary at the time as it allowed users to access data in real-time from globally distributed locations, enhancing the process efficiency of employees to previously unattainable levels. A Look Back at SAP’s History of Innovation

How SAP HANA Has Changed the Way the IT World Walks

Today, SAP has an extensive software portfolio of modular solutions that can be flexibly deployed – on premises, in the cloud, or as hybrid solutions. These SAP solutions cover a wide range of business sectors and industries. Here are several examples:

With the introduction of SAP HANA in 2011, SAP took real-time computing to a new level. The platform comes with advanced big data and Internet of Things applications and can be flexibly combined with other solutions. It also allows for integration with third-party solutions. Today, some 25,000 customers are already leveraging this new technology (as of July 2018). [1]

SAP for SMEs (Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises) – a Worthwhile Investment

Given its high level of standardization, ever-growing functionality, and the widespread use of SAP solutions in large corporations, many SMEs are somewhat skeptical of SAP. The fact of the matter is, however, that today some 80% of SAP customers are small and medium-sized businesses. [1] The current product portfolio also speaks for itself: With SAP S/4HANA Cloud, for example, SAP has created a smart ERP system that can be implemented in no time, at a predictable cost and time to value, and with improved interfaces. Both corporations and SMEs are given direct access to SAP’s innovation pipeline with disruptive technologies such as machine learning, predictive analytics and a straightforward path to the implementation of digital business models.
