I have been in the Business Intelligence world for over 15 years now and have seen an increase in the desire from end users to do more with their data for less effort, and answer more questions quicker, by removing the lengthy “define, design, and deliver” project interactions.
This has always been a challenge as reporting tools have often been restricted to «super users» or developers in an IT department. I am also seeing a trend that as users are using highly visual and interactive software applications in their personal world (e.g. iPhone / iPad) they desire these type of applications in their workplace and be empowered to build them themselves and mash-up data from multiple sources. These multiple sources increasing often include internal data and the desire to plot these on maps (Geospatial analysis) but this has historically been seen as complex and expensive … Not now…
Interested in learning more and the reason why things have changed? And did you ever ask yourself how ancient the topic Geospatial Analysis is? You will be surprised! For more please follow this link to the SAP Community Network where I have published my latest post that is answering the questions very detailed and that is dealing with SAP Lumira as solution.
